My Experience with Tik Tok, Lockdown 2020

To know about anything in depth, just dive deep enough and stay there consciously. This was the motive of using tiktok. Also there was an official need to install the same. Here is my self analysis of TikTok

  1. Initial days

My habits were a blank platter for tiktok. Hence it showed me all kind of videos ranging from motivational videos, spiritual videos, challenges videos, mimicry, dance, comedy, fashion etc. I just swiped up through all the videos and sometimes I checked for the profiles I liked for more.

2. My profiling by TikTok:

I purposefully hit like on many videos so that tik-tok knows what to show me. However, I genuinely visited profiles of some artists who seemed attractive :). Thus TikTok Caught me. Everytime it showed me a video of that artist, I would spend some seconds more compared to others. This made me go deep inside tiktok.

3. Habit:

A conscious yet unconscious habit I had fallen. Daily one hour to two hours of tik tok! I cannot believe. I mean TikTok!. It is fun to watch short videos and it is an ocean. If you don’t like, just swipe up.

4. Why ocean?

India is 140 crores population. For the first time, there has come a platform where in a poor village farmer from bihar has got a platform and also name and fame with millions of views. Creators are also sometimes beggars and living in slums who have reached heights with their talent. On the other side there are time passers, who just mimic the dialog and keep on posting every 2 hours. Sometimes tiktok has to remove these content themselves!

5. Psychology

TikTok has content for everyone. Hence its addictive. If not quality, it has beautiful faces, if not beautiful faces, filters to make you look beautiful! It has content for classes as well as masses so what ever category you fall into, it is there. Adrenalin rush is at its peak. It gives you mild dosages of dopamine with every video, hence you keep on swiping!

What next?

I just saw government also has their accounts on TikTok. To reach public, PIB has it. Modi’s man ki baat is also on TikTok!

Had enough ride to know the platform. If its there in my phone, I have to open it. Would I uninstall? No. I need to be in conscious touch with these addictions to be in touch with the world which is unconsciously addicted.
