Cyber Security Career Experience: Travelling !

Travel is the best teacher!

During my cyber security consulting career at Deloitte and PwC, I have traveled far and wide in India and Bharat. All travels was with diferent colleagues with diverse background! Learning from travel:

1. Be ready for all situation!

Sometimes you get Radisson, sometimes you get a shady accommodation with losts of mosquito! Sometimes you get an SUV, while sometimes you need to walk long to complete the task in scorching heat. Sometimes you will get a grand buffet, many times you need to sit on highway to eat whatever is available!

2. People are different.

India is highly diverse. You have to change how you deal with people originating from different parts of India. If you behave/act similar everywhere, you are gonna lose them. Hence learn how they behave and change your style accordingly. Ex. If you are fast in one region, you have to slow down in other ! Travellors would know. Also you deal with all age groups. Its takes a while to adept management style for 30’s, 40’s, 50’s and even 60’s age group people dealings.

3. Situations are different.

Not all companies are in same financially and socially healthy state. Hence be sensitive while dealing with the clients. Some of the clients were wealthy enough to give heed to my recommendations of cyber security. Other clients literally was offended saying we are already running in losses, hence cyber security would be a costly affair! Hence tweak your recommendations based on their financial and social conditions.

4. Work environment is different

Sometimes have a comfortable revolving chair and a separate space to work in, sometimes you have to stand full day in front of Kiosk running for charger every 3 hours. Sometimes you are in a data center where there is not even a dust particle, sometimes your are totally bathed with dust and pollutants of mine!

I realized importance of staying healthy. If you are fit and fine, you will be able to focus in any situation
