Last week I had an intellectual discussion with my friend who said, Shri Abdul Kalam has said, Leave your office on time. A simple internet search will give you below result which satisfies the arguments. But where is the source of this information was a quest. And moreover, when an intellectual like Abdul Kalam speaks, a context to it is very important.

Digging the Source

Best source or way to understand APJ is his book “Wings of Fire”. I went to the book and searched for “Office” and “Late” keywords. And here are the findings.

Point 1: APJ used to say late, during RATO Project
Point 2: When you are doing something great, sitting or working round the clock comes naturally
Point 3: Passion makes you forget even Hunger. How can it make you remember 6 PM?
Point 4: For achieving a team goal, sometimes Late Night shift are also necessary
Point 5 : Even to write a book, there were late night series..

Summary

Work life balance is important. However escaping the work, especially when your work is making a major difference by Quoting references (which may be true but non contextual) is a matter to ponder upon.

In order to achieve anything higher, you need passion, intention and consistency..For the rest, life goes on.
